Nolan Miller is a performing trombonist in Northeast Ohio. He studied to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Ohio University and Masters of Music in Trombone Performance from the University of Arkansas. He held the the second trombone chair in the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra for two years while obtaining his Master’s degree.

Teaching music has always been a passion for Nolan. He believes that all people, with dedication and consistency can achieve moving and meaningful musical experiences. As a teacher, he is largely influenced by the North Texas School of Music, specifically the teaching of Vern and Jan Kagarice. Nolan places an equal emphasis on ability and performance health, seeking to create musicians who are technically proficient, expressive, and able to play for a lifetime.

Nolan regularly performs with the Freedom Brass Band, and Akron Wind Symphony. When he’s not performing, teaching, or practicing, Nolan is serving as Director of Ministries at a church plant in Goodyear Heights called FIVE39. His hobbies include chess playing, arranging and recording, and making a mean cup ‘o Joe.
